Commuter Train to Start in Cox’s Bazar-Chattogram Route from February

After Cox’s Bazar Express, a second train service had started in Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route called “Parjatak Express”. After observing the combined passenger demands of the two train services, a Commuter Train service will be launched in Cox’s Bazar-Chattogram route from the month of February. The officials have announced that two commuter trains will be travelling on this newly constructed railway line.  

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the newly constructed railway line on Dohazri-Cox’s Bazar route and the Iconic Rail Station on 11 November 2023. Then on 1 December, “Cox’s Bazar Express”, the first commercial train service on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route, started its journey. Since Cox’s Bazar is a popular tourist destination, the demand for the services in the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route has multiplied. That is why on the 10th of January, 2024, another train was added to this route, “Parjatak Express”.

Md. Golam Rabbani, The master at the Iconic Rail Station in Cox’s Bazar, said, after considering the Locals’ demands, there is a possibility for commuter train service on Cox’s Bazar-Chattogram route to start next month. This will meet the local travellers’ demands.

He further added that with the help of this train service, travellers can commute between Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar after travelling through stations including Ramu, Eidgaon, Dulahajara, Chakaria, Harbang, Dohazari and many others. The commuter train service will be operated twice daily.
