Tap was declared as Europe’s best airline for Africa and South America at the World Travel Awards 2024.

According to a press release, this year, Tap was chosen as the Best European Airline flying to Africa and South America at WTA and also honoured as Europe’s Best MICE Airline at the MICE Awards 2023.

MICE Awards are the WTA’s “sister” event for the Meetings, Incentive, Congress, and Exhibition (MICE) sector.

The World Travel Awards have recognised TAP as the top European airline operating flights to South America and Africa for the seventh consecutive year.

Flying to 14 locations in Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, Morocco, Senegal, Gambia, and Ghana, TAP operates 85 weekly flights from Porto and Lisbon.

In addition, it provides 80 weekly flights to Brazil; starting in 2024, these will expand to 96 weekly flights to 11 Brazilian cities. An average of 13 daily flights, solidifies TAP’s position as the principal international carrier connecting Brazil with Europe. It also operates direct flights from Funchal to Caracas, Venezuela, within South America.

The World Travel Awards recognise the top travel destinations across the globe in numerous categories. TAP was voted the best European airline flying to Africa in 2011, 2012, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, and the best European airline flying to South America in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. These trophies are added to those that have already been won in previous editions.

The World Travel Awards winners were selected through an online voting procedure that involved both the general public and travel industry professionals, including travel agents, operators, and tourism organisations from many nations.

Currently, Tap is operating flights to 85 destinations with over 1,250 flights per week.
