Emirates to Start Another Direct Daily Flight to Colombo

Emirates, one of two flag carriers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), just announced on the 23rd of November its plans to add another daily direct flight between Dubai and Colombo. This plan will commence on 1 December 2022, as the seasonal demand for travelling was set to increase during this time.

Now if we factor in the two direct flights and one flight operated through the Maldivian capital, Male, this new addition brings the total number of daily flights between the two cities to three

This second daily flight of Emirates’ will be operated directly between Dubai and Colombo from December 1 to 26 March, except from 16 December to 30 December, during which the flight will stop over in Male.

Therefore, From 1 December to 15 December and then again from 31 December to 26 March, the daily flight will depart Dubai and land directly in Colombo. And from 16th to 30th December the flight will be routed via Male. 

Emirates operates its modern three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on flights to Colombo. This aircraft offers private suites in First Class, lie-flat seats in Business Class and spacious seats in Economy Class. The onboard passengers across all classes of these flights can enjoy Emirates’ award-winning service and industry-leading products. These services include regionally-inspired dishes, complimentary beverages inflight entertainment system which offers up to 5,000 channels of on-demand entertainment in over 40 languages, including movies, TV shows, and an extensive musical library along with games, audiobooks and podcasts.

In 1986, Emirates launched services to Sri Lanka and this year it has celebrated 36 years of services to Colombo. This year, the airline signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau to reaffirm its commitment to Sri Lanka and outline mutually beneficial initiatives that will help revive the trade and tourism industry of the country.

Presently, Emirates operates triple daily flights between Dhaka and Dubai connecting to over 140 different destinations worldwide.
