Radisson Blu Dhaka Hosts 46th IPAMS

Bangladesh Army and US Army Pacific (USARPAC) have recently co-hosted The 46th Indo-Pacific Armies Management Seminar (IPAMS) 2022. The event was held on the premises of Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden from September 12-15.

Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, virtually conducted the inauguration ceremony as chief guest on 12 September 2022.

The opening ceremony was carried out in the Grand Ball Room of Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden. This was later followed by a joint press conference conducted in the lobby of the same hotel branch.

This joint press conference was held with General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, the Chief of Staff of the Bangladesh Army, and General Charles Flynn, Commanding General of the US Army Pacific. 

Other than the main event, several smaller sessions focusing on “Robust Peacekeeping”, “Women Empowerment”, and “Land Power in Regional Cooperation” was also designed for all the participants of the seminar to attend.

Many distinguished guest speakers were featured during these plenary sessions where supervised discussions on the challenges and ways to move forward were held at Utshab Hall.

Senior army leaders and delegates from 24 countries around the Indo-Pacific participated in the main event held in the Grand Ball Room. The theme of the conference was the ‘Prospects and Challenges in Maintaining Peace and Security in the Indo-Pacific’ region. This was the first gathering of regional armies since 2019 for the annual forum.

IPAMS is the largest conference for land forces in the Indo-pacific region. It provides the senior military leaders from the 24 Indo-Pacific regional land forces a platform to exchange their views and ideas on maintaining peace and stability as one of the leading army engagements. 

This event was attended by 130 foreign delegates and army officials in total from 24 countries. Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden provide these guests with accommodation during the four-day event. 

This was the first gathering of regional armies since 2019 for the annual forum and it was the second time it was held at Radisson Blu Dhaka since 2014.
