Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed every airport in the country to take 24-hour flight arrival and departure arrangements, said the State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Md Mahbub Ali.
He said, “The Prime Minister’s instruction is to take such measures so that the plane can take off and land at every airport in Bangladesh 24 hours a day.
We have taken similar arrangements in many airports.
However, due to COVID, we could not initiate many projects even after completing them as specialized people were not able to come from abroad.
We will make sure that flights can also arrive and depart in Barisal 24 hours a day in the meantime as well.”
He said this after inspecting the erosion affected area of Barisal airport and the Sugandha river adjacent to the airport on Saturday.
State Minister along with the Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Farooq, Member of Parliament for the reserved seat Syeda Rubina Akhter had also visited and inspected the erosion affected area of Mira Airport and its adjoining areas.
At the same time, he added, “Barisal Airport will be the most modern and up-to-date. And the most beautiful airport in Bangladesh.
There is no doubt about it. We are taking up the project.
The runway of Barisal Airport will be much bigger and the terminal will be the most sophisticated.
I will request the Prime Minister to allocate the necessary funds.”
