3 Awesome Parks to Enjoy in Dhaka

Dhaka is one of the largest cities around South-East Asia and the biggest in Bangladesh. Home to millions of people, it is the perfect place for a lively city break. With plenty of shops, hotels and restaurants, it has everything the modern holidaymaker needs. But it is not all hustle and bustle! Dhaka also has many scenic parks to spend time in when you want to get back to nature.

Here are 3 of the best parks in Dhaka:

Ramna Park

This is one of the oldest and most beautiful parks to stroll around in Dhaka. Once inside this tranquil oasis of calm, the buzz of big-city life slowly fades away. This park was originally founded in 1610 under the Mughal Empire and was part of a Royal Garden.

Ramna Park

Set in almost 70 acres of land, there are lots of pretty flowers and trees to take in. The park’s many paths are perfect for enjoying a gentle walk and the large green spaces are great for relaxing in the sun.

Chandrima Uddan

Another beautiful park to enjoy in Dhaka is Chandrima Uddan. It sits just across from the National Parliament Building and is therefore easy to find. Although it can get very busy in the afternoons, the lively feel it has, plus the natural splendour it offers, is fabulous. It is also home to the tomb of Ziaur Rahman, which is a top landmark to see in Dhaka. If you are in the city over the weekend, this park comes alive with street performers and is even more exciting to visit.

Dhanmondi Lake Park

Found next to the Dhanmondi Lake, this park is famous in Dhaka for being safe and trendy. It is the park which is most popular with young people and has a contemporary feel. The lake itself is stunning to look at and even sitting on its shores to watch the world go by will make for an entertaining day.

Dhanmondi Lake Park

This park is also ideal for those who like to be active outdoors, due to the large patches of grass available to kick a ball on or throw a frisbee. There are also plenty of benches and pavilions here to rest on. As one of the best-loved Dhaka parks, Dhanmondi Lake is worth a visit while in the city.
