Horrible weather conditions in the Middle East resulted in a total of nine UAE-Bangladesh flights being cancelled.
According to a note from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authorities signed by Executive Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam, some flights were cancelled yesterday as well as today.
Air Arabia cancelled a total of five flights today, April 18. Additionally, two flights from Flydubai and Emirates were also cancelled.
In just 12 hours, nearly four inches (100 mm) of rain poured in Dubai on Tuesday, 16 April, typically the total is recorded for the entire year.
The rapid downpour quickly flooded buildings and roadways.
There was also chaos at Dubai International Airport, which was ranked as the second busiest airport in the world not so long ago.
Most UAE-Bangladesh flights were cancelled as a result of the disturbances, which persist till today.
The Dubai International Airport has also advised people to “NOT to come to the airport, unless absolutely necessary,” and said “flights continue to be delayed and diverted.”
