Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national airline of Bangladesh, has planned a special celebration for International Women’s Day this year. Biman’s one international flight will be operated only by women for the first time on International Women’s Day. All the staff of the flight will be women, from the pilot to the ground staff.
Shafiul Azim, Biman’s MD and CEO, said that on March 8, the Dhaka-Dammam route BG-349 flight will be operated by women. The flight crew will also be briefed by the female flight briefing officer of Biman. The flight will leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Dammam at 2:30 PM on that day. The flight is scheduled to be operated by Captain Alayah and Captain Shumayla. Women in aviation have participated in almost every category.
Women have participated in various positions in the organisation, such as General Manager Administration, General Manager Public Relations, Chief Medical Officer, and General Manager Customer. Biman Bangladesh Airlines has 15 women pilots, and 345 women cabin crew. Moreover, women have contributed at various levels including ground staff, engineers, and engineering instructors.
