Third Terminal of Dhaka Airport will be inaugurated on 7 October

State Minister for Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali said that the third terminal of Dhaka Airport, Shahjalal International Airport, will be inaugurated on October 7.

On Saturday, while briefing the news reporters during a press conference, the minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the third terminal of the airport on this day. The final preparations for the inauguration are already near the end.

It has been known that the ongoing work on the part that is set to open is over. The infrastructure of the terminal is ready. The installation of the equipment is also almost finished. Before this, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Mofidur Rahman said that airlines will be able to use the new parking apron and taxiway after the Prime Minister’s soft opening. The apron of the old terminal can accommodate 29 aircraft. In case of a soft opening, an additional 8 to 10 aircraft can be accommodated on the third terminal apron.

At that time, he also said that even if the new terminal is partially opened on October 7, the passengers would be able to use it by the end of 2024. Because it will take till 2024 to calibrate the equipment which will be used in terminal management.

It should be noted that 37 aircraft can be parked together when the third terminal of Dhaka Airport with an area of ​​5 lakh 42 thousand square meters is opened.

There will be 26 boarding bridges. Among them, 12 boarding bridges will be launched next October. There will be a total of 115 check-in counters for departures, including 15 self-service check-in counters.
