Dhaka is a chaotic city and while visiting temples and mosques is an amazing experience, going somewhere a little quieter can be refreshing. You might find it hard to believe but Dhaka has some incredible nature spots to visit, with some of the best ones listed below.
National Botanical Garden
The National Botanical Garden is located in Mirpur Model Thana and is a serene getaway from the bustling city. It’s spread over 205 acres of land and has a wide variety of plants – an estimated 100 species – for you to enjoy. Some points of interest are a stunning rose garden right in the middle of the site and an observational deck where you can view birds and water plants.
Baldha Gardens
Baldha Gardens consists of two separate gardens, each across the road from one other. It’s unlike any other nature spot in the city as it contains plants from all over the world, allowing you to see some truly bizarre species. Among the plants and ponds, there is exercise equipment which locals use and they’re always up for conversation, giving you a meaningful experience.
Ramna Park
Ramna Park is the oldest park in Dhaka City and it’s a fantastic spot for a morning jog. It’s a wide and open park that is a great place to go to for a quiet hour or two and if you have friends in the city, there’s a restaurant in the park itself where you can catch up and have a bite to eat at the same time. Towering trees and serene ponds can be found in the park, so make sure to grab a few photos while you’re there.
Richhang Falls
Richhang Falls is an incredible nature spot that is surrounded by lush forest and a wide variety of birds and animals. It is quite a walk to reach the falls but a small shop nearby sells snacks and drinks, so you won’t be hungry when you reach the top.
